The
dingo, Australias wild dog, was first spotted on the northwest
shores of the subcontinent in the late seventeenth century. The arrival
of the dingo brought about substantial changes in the continents
ecosystem. It is noted that with the establishment of dingoes, native
predators declined. Among the animals probably displaced from the mainland
by the dingo was the Tasmanian tiger, a recently extinct wolf-like marsupial.

“Our partnerships span forty, fifty, sixty years and more. They’re
in oil, gas, and chemicals. They involve everything from building new
plants to helping develop entire industries. But they have one thing
in common: a commitment to be there for the long term. As a global energy
partner in over seventy countries, our track record proves it. We don’t
just make partnerships, we keep them.”

The
Chicago Tribune once wrote that Henry Ford was a stupid person. Ford
got mad and hired a lawyer to sue the newspaper, challenging them to
prove it. During the trial at the Courthouse, Ford was asked dozens
of simple, general information questions, such as “When did the Civil
War happen?”, “Name the presidents of the United States”, and so on.
Ford, who had very little formal education, could answer very few. Finally,
exasperated, he said, “I don’t know the answer to those questions, but
I could find a man in five minutes who does. I use my brain to think,
not to store up a lot of facts.”

2000) Lara Croft, adventurer and archaeologist, flees through
an underground cavern from a pack of pursuing dogs, only to find her
way blocked by a chasm. Cornered, she reaches over her shoulder into
her backpack, retrieves an orange bottle, and drinks its contents. Revitalized,
she gives the dogs the slip and sprints to safety. So runs the latest
British television commercial for Lucozade, a soft drink. Ms. Croft,
the energetic computer-generated heroine of the Tomb raider
games, was the obvious person to star in it. But if a character from
a computer game can appear in an advertisement, what about the other
way around? Why not put ads in computer games?
