From 1945 to 1950
The first participation in a theatre play took place when she was eight years old; she acted as Arlette in the play Two Sargents. As a teenager she acted as coadjuvant in Nuestra Natacha, Alejandro Casona's play, taken place at the Rio de Janeiro University - Law Department Theatre.
In 1950 she worked as a radio speaker, actress and editress adopting the pseudonym of Fernanda Montenegro in Radio MEC participating of the following programs: Passeio literário, França eterna, Douce France, Franceses - nós cremos em vós, Falando de teatro, Brasiliana, No reino da alegria and Falando de cinema.
