For the last three years, he has been lending support to Hector

He is currently producing Catherine Breillat's film ROMANCE.
RICARDO PIGLIA (SCRIPT WRITER)
Considered by various critics as the worthy heir to the literary
legacies of Jorge Luis Borges and Julio Cortazar, Ricardo Piglia is on
of the most important contemporary writers in Latin America. Among his
works are "Invasion", "False Name", "Artificial Respiration" and "Absent
City" adapted for opera in 1996. In 1997, he received Argentina's most
prestigious literary prize, Planeta, for his latest book "Plata
Quemada".
In 1992, Hector Babenco - after having read "Artificial Respiration" and
discovered that the author was his age and had also been educated in Mar
Del Plata - made a proposal to Piglia to work together on the writing of
FOOLISH HEART (later they discovered they had even studied at the same
school).
FOOLISH HEART was written, on and off, during five years. Hector Babenco
and Ricardo Pigilia used to lock themselves up in a secluded hotel for
several weeks discussing the script. "Then", says Piglia, "I used to
work on the text and send it to Hector for his comments which he would
return to me. It was in this way we wrote FOOLISH HEART."
After FOOLISH HEART (his first motion picture experience) Ricardo Piglia
has co-written the script of COMODINES by Jorge Nisco, one of
Argentinean cinema's greatest box-office successes in 1997. He also
wrote the script for LA SONAMBULA by Fernando Spiner.
LAURO ESCOREL (DIRECTOR OF PHOTOGRAPHY)
This is Escorel and Babenco's fifth collaboration after, KING OF THE
NIGHT; LUCIO FLAVIO, PASSENGER OF AGONY; IRONWEED and AT PLAY IN THE
FIELDS OF THE LORD.
Lauro Escorel is certainly one of the greatest brazilian directors of
photography. He worked in BYE BYE BRAZIL, QUILOMBO and BETTER DAYS WILL
COME by Carlos Diegues, ALL NUDITY WILL BE PUNISHED and EU SEI QUE VOU
TE AMAR (LOVE ME FOREVER AND EVER) by Arnaldo Jabor.
In the U.S., he participated in the making of the films AMELIA EARHART;
THE FINAL FLIGHT (1994) and CRITICAL CHOICES (1996) and for television
"Voices" and "Stuart saves his Families" in 1995.
CARLOS CONTI (SCENOGRAPHY)
Born in Argentina, Carlos Conti has lived in France for several years.
He has worked on several French films such as 37,2 THE MORNING, and
ROSELYNE AND THE LIONS by Jean-Jacques Beineix, NELLY AND MONSIEUR
ARNAUD by Claude Sautet and MY FAVORITE SAISON by André Techiné.
In Argentina, he was responsible for the scenography of THE TANGO
LESSON by Sally Potter.
ZBIGNIEW PREISNER (COMPOSER)
A Polish composer, Zbigniew Preisner worked for a long time with
Krystof Kieslowsky, notably on THE DECALOG, THE DOUBLE LIFE OF
VERONIQUE and the BLUE, WHITE and RED trilogy.
He also composed the the music for Agnieska Holland's film, EUROPA.
FOOLISH HEART is his second cooperation with Hector Babenco, the first
being AT PLAY IN THE FIELDS OF THE LORD.
