Bandanna Week ties fashion and good action

In black, pink, red, lilac, denim and navy colours, the bandannas are printed with de campaign's logo.

As much fashion and its images were approaching from the streets and the reality - mainly from the 50's on - more were leaving their places of pure glamour, to mix themselves (that's great!) to "the life as it is" and to the world and its wonders...And pains.

In the track that the polemic Oliviero Toscani - read Benetton - has been creating since the 80's decade, in the last years, one of the biggest world marketing trends is the connection with awareness, aid and fund raising campaigns, for much further than the fashion world.

In London, the Bandanna Week is one of the most important actions in this sense. The Teenage Cancer Trust has worked hard to see people from all over the world wearing bandannas printed with the campaign's logo. The more, the bigger is the possibility of raising funds for building specialised hospitals, which could give support to teenagers with cancer and their families.

Officially happening from 25/05 to 04/06/01, the bandannas will be sold in England, in chains like Topshop, Tie Rack, Pilot and IKEA, for £5 (about R$15). Besides that, they can be ordered through the website, with promise of delivering all over the world for just £2.50 extra.

Topshop will have a special event on 24/05, in its store in London and, further, in other cities of the country, promoting the campaign and the series created by Clements Ribeiro and Walé, with limited edition. As it wasn't enough, Burberry has also created its exclusive bandanna, which will just be sold through its Bond Street store for £20 each.

Burberry's bandanna, certainly will become a collector's relic.

The promotion doesn't stop here in its involvement with fashion. It was a subject for the challenge of a team of design students, at London College of Fashion: create clothes or accessories using the bandannas. The winning team is on the campaign's website, it has won a paid training period at Topshop and it will show its product at the school's fashion show.

Besides that, were invited to invent fashion, several national and international designers. Top people like Stella McCartney, Agent Provocateur, John Rocha, Zandra Rhodes, Missoni, Sonia Rykiel and Paul Smith, among others. Their creations will be showed at the ultra-chic Browns South Molton St.'s display windows - one of the most trendy store in town - from 25/05 to 04/06. After, they will be auctioned on the net, certainly well disputed.

Artists and personalities from all areas are engaged in the campaign's work. The bandannas certainly will be one of the summer hits, and further, they will promote a good cause. The TCT's Bandanna Week's website accepts ideas and suggests to wear them on the head, round the neck or the waist, tied to the bag or tied to the car and even adorning pets. After all, a good action suits well anywhere.
