Insi-de i- D

Like the Queen Mother Elizabeth's scenery and the 20 years of The Face magazine, other anniversary was specially celebrated in London: the 20 years, 200th issue, of trend i-D magazine.

Insi-de i-D, the 20/200/2000 issue is the special edition of the magazine which was born in august 1980 and cost 50 pence ( currently, it is sold for 3,10 pounds in England). According to its chief editor, Terry Jones, the magazine was hand made, the logo was painted and the pages were done after a good exercise of sticking photographs and articles, typed in the typing machine. Today, these first issues are relics of collectors and i-D is read all over the world.

The August edition has a documentary look and, for sure, will be a relic of many more collectors in the future. To point out the moment, the editors invited 200 people, who have already been or contributed for i-D. Art, fashion, photograph, literature, architecture, dance, gastronomy, Internet people... they should nominate other 200 talents who have never been in the magazine.

That, after answering: "Which was his first contribution for i-D?", "What has been permeating his work since then?" and "In what are you working now?"

People from arts, fashion, photograph, literature, architecture, dance, gastronomy, music, Internet... etc... answered:

- What are you wearing?
- What do you do?
- In what are you working now?
- What crosses your days?
- Favorite record?
- What were you doing 20 years ago?
- What will you be doing in 20 years?
- What makes life worth?
- How would you like to be remembered?

The Austrian designer Helmut Lang answered that, his first contribution for i-D was "complete devotion" and doesn't reveal in what he is working today. Nothing obvious, and he indicated a science and arts professor from Vienna University. Photographed by Elfie Semotan in best style of "Einstein", he said, he has been researching, among other things, about how the deserts reflect all one kind of thought: "the metaphoric view of the empty space like devastation, freedom, challenge, as the home fiction for all nomads"(!!!)

Finally, talents and eccentricities (and there are many!) apart, the result is all one panorama of preferences and attitudes. In the real life wave which permeated the last decade fashion and adding here the valorization of what is personal, authentic and singular the 20 years edition honors the cover's name:: fashion magazine - without any produced editorial - thing that, its team knows how to do it pretty well.

But also for showing , it always has a wide open eye, it closes the last page with a special offer, Gisele Bündchen: in a punk re-reading climate - more anarchist than aggressive - who devastates catwalks, editorials, window displays and Londoner streets, the T-shirt with the Sex Pistol Sid Vicious' face has its place in history: from 20 years ago and today.
