American director and scriptwriter Gregg Araki blends the humor characteristic of screwball comedies from the thirties with a genuine love story, in a daring and creative way. Veronica is a girl of 20 or so who decides to reactivate her love life, but with two boys: Zed and Abel. They are little over 20 years old themselves, and they dream of a chance in Los Angeles. Zed is a percussionist in a death metal band. Abel is a rock critic and works as a freelancer for some publications. They have nothing in common, other than a mutual passion for Veronica.

She feels compelled to tell them the facts and admits she is going out with both at the same time and that she loves them both in the same measure. As they will not relinquish the romance, they accept Veronica's proposal: that they should live all of them under the same roof, together, as a start to an improbable threesome.
