Myles
Berkowitz does not have a girl friend, and he decides to make arrangements
for 20 dates until he finds one. Neither can he find a job in cinema.
For this reason, he decides to film his twenty encounters and make them
into a film on a search for true love. He believes he does not need actors,
a script or locations, for everything and everybody in this film must
be real - which is fine since he does not have the money to foot the bill.
In addition, Myles is convinced that he will portray encounters never
seen in typical Hollywood romance.
His
agent obtains US$ 60 thousand for the production and also the first date,
with a girl named Tracy. Evidently things have not been well explained
where she is concerned, and she is upset to have a small team filming
her every move in this strange encounter. To go out with anyone for the
first time is complicated enough: filming the situation is even more difficult,
especially if the team is not very professional. It doesn't work, and
Tracy, in a tantrum, asks him: "Do you really believe you are going to
find true love with a camera one foot away from your nose?"
Myles
then realizes he will have to change his strategy. Following the advice
from a professor of cinema and consultant in Hollywood, he wisely resolves
to keep the camera hidden, thereby recording all of the amusing or embarrassing
moments in his 20 dates.
