Pepe, an agricultural engineer, arrives from the capital and is greeted with hostility by his aunt and those about her in the province. The aunt puts him out of the house when she sees he has fallen for her daughter Rosário. Pepe is killed when he breaks into Doña Perfecta's house to elope with her daughter. Rosário curses her mother and departs with the soldiers bearing Pepe's mortal remains.
