    An e-mail in focus: virtual encounters, where those involved allow their imaginations to soar, to become dashing gallants hidden behind nicknames. Viola is 27 and lives alone with her dog Oliver. She has just walked out on her fiancé on the eve of the wedding.

     Her favorite pastime is browsing on Internet and this leads her to a porn site. As from then, her day-to-day routine is punctuated by encounters with a mysterious Mittler, with whom she has a turbulent affair by computer.

     The number of their "encounters" augments day by day, as also do the virtual lover's demands.

     She meets other men on the web and, finally, realizes that Mittler can not satisfy his innermost phantasies, or satisfy the desires that have always caused him distress. She thus decides to seek what she wants elsewhere.

Born in Messina, in Italy, in 1957. Began work in theater as an actress and director's assistant. In Rome where she studied psychology, she was camera assistant to Mario Monicelli, and later worked for directors such as Bigas Luna, Marco Bellochio, Luigi Comencini, and Alessandro di Robilant. She began, at this time, to work also on television, and made documentaries for RAI. Viol@ is her first feature.
