A film that proved a break-through in the Yazuka genre of Nikkatsu producers, that lent a modern air to bandits, as opposed to characters bearing traditional weight in the films of competitor Toei. The film was daring and, with it, Seijun Suzuki became the favorite among young intellectuals.
