Nina Hagen. A playful documentary. A kind of "direct cinema" portrait in the form of a collage. Various scenes and moments from her life: her family, friends and a few exotic characters. Her singing - ranging from classic to punk, pop, chanson and Indian folklore. Nina Hagen today - hardly any archive material, a few flashbacks.

Energy, desire, silence, chaos. On stage, in front of it and behind the scenes; in public and in private - though there´s barely a division between the two and it´s often quite a roller coaster ride. Up and down, back and forth - in the extreme. Just like her places of residence: Los Angeles, New York, Paris, Hamburg, Berlin, Cologne, India. One of the film´s main aspects: alongside the well-known face of Nina, the shrill diva, we also get to see her from another side, in black-and-white, quite, loving and poetic. A film about a fascinating personality. (Peter Sempel)
