Roger
Nygard, director of Trekkies (selection for the 21st Mostra), is the producer
of this documentary following up on the greatest gathering of UFO's enthusiasts
and followers of alien phenomena, in July, 1997, in the city of Roswell,
in remembrance of the 50 years since the alleged fall of a spacecraft
in the region. There have been thousands of unexplainable occurrences
all around the world. The most important, however, was in Roswell (New
Mexico, United States), with reports of the appearance of aliens, said
to have been covered by the US government.
The
documentary records the fanaticism of believers the world over in their
endeavor to follow up closely on reports of alien manifestations, but
records mainly the obsession of one particular man in search of an answer
to these mysteries.
Richard
Kronfeld lives in Minnesota and, for years, has dreamed of traveling to
Roswell to research cases of abduction, or perchance, to contact extraterrestrial
intelligence. Kronfeld, who has never been away from his home town and
who lives with his mother sees this journey as a form of doing something
interesting, at least once in a lifetime. Together with a team, he arrives
in Roswell and embarks on his adventure - first in search of a hotel to
stay at (all are booked out), and then in his endeavors to find someone
who may have witnessed some manifestation or abduction, and who might
indicate whether or not they were affected by these events. He and his
team talk to hundreds of people, including famous people and other anonymous
characters in the world of ufology, affording an ironic portrayal of this
American reality.
