Born in Israel, in 1950. At
the start of the seventies, while studying architecture
at the Institute of Technology in Israel, Gitaï made his
first short films. Soon after, he enlisted to fight in the
Yom Kippur war. With the war over, he completed his studies
in architecture and continued filming. He accumulated a
considerable film production with films such as Esther
(1985), Golem - The Spirit of Exile (1992), The
Petrified Garden (1993), and The Arena of Murder
(1996), selected for the 20th Mostra.
