The special
issue of "Guia Info" edited by Abril (www.info.abril.com.br)
cites the Mostra Internacional de Cinema address (www.mostra.org)
as the best in Brazil for research and information
on cinema news.
In its special issue n.210-A, under
"SITES - THE MOST AWESOME, USEFUL AND AMUSING
SITES ON INTERNET!", "Guia Info" includes
an assessment of over 250 sites "that really
do deserve space on your browser". Débora
Fortes, editor of GUIA DE SITES, took into consideration
the "billions and billions of pages included
in the dotcom universe" and conducted a survey
of the best addresses on internet with two basic purposes
in mind: to help internauts both save time and enjoy
themselves.
According to the "Guia Info"
survey, the Mostra Internacional de Cinema address
is, in fact, the best of the Brazilian addresses on
cinema: in first place is the unbeatable IMDB (www.imdb.com),
rated the best data base on cinema in the world. Because
it is a U.S. site, it is presented only in English.
The Mostra www.mostra.org
electronic address ranks second, together with another
foreign site, the American Film Institute (www.afi.com),
devoted to U.S. cinema and, also, exclusively in English. |
In two languages, Portuguese and English, the
Mostra Internacional de Cinema site is indicated
by "Guia Info" as "an address fundamental
to comprehending the development of world cinema
beyond the realms of multiplex. The file on the
films that have been shown here is extensive and
well elaborated...". In fact, in its files,
www.mostra.org
offers all the cinema in the world selected by the
festival since 1977 - Mostra Internacional de Cinema
will be in its 29th consecutive year in 2005.
To further the www.mostra.org
address, in 2001, Mostra released a JORNAL DA MOSTRA
news bulletin, also in Portuguese and in English,
read in almost all the countries in the world, with
close on 50 thousand spontaneous subscribers. A
free "Jornal da Mostra" subscription,
with information not only on Mostra de São
Paulo, but also on up-to-date film news, and often
with exclusive comments, is available through the
initial page of www.mostra.org.
