Born in Roubaix, France, on October 31, 1960. Director, producer and screenplay writer, he began his career by directing the medium-length film La Vie des Morts, in 1991. He also directed La Sentinelle in 1992, My Sex Life in 1996, Esther Kahn in 2000 and En Jouant dans La Compagnie des Hommes in 2003. Mathieu Amalric won the Best Actor César Awards for his work in Rois et Reine.
