Abbas Kiarostami
Born in Teheran, on June 22, 1940. He attended the School of Fine Arts in the University of Teheran. He was awarded the Golden Palm, in Cannes, in 1997, for Taste of Cherry and the Special Prize from the Jury, in Venice, for The Wind Will Carry Us. He has been part of several editions of Mostra, with special tribute at the 28th, with a retrospective of his films, an exhibit of photographs taken by the director, and a book published on his work. In 2004, Kiarostami also gave workshops on cinema and a master class at FAAP. He was awarded the prize from the critics at the 18th Mostra, for Under the Olive Trees.

Ermanno Olmi
Born in Bergamo, Italy, on July 24, 1931. He directed his first film in 1959. He was awarded a Golden Palm at Cannes in 1978 for The Tree of Wooden Clogs and the Golden Lion in Venice, in 1988, for The Legend of the Holy Drinker.

Ken Loach
Born in Nuneaton, UK, on June 17th, 1936. He read law at Oxford. In the sixties, he made several films for the BBC and directed his first film, Poor Cow, in 1968. In 1990, with Hidden Agenda, he was awarded the special prize from the jury, in Cannes. He was awarded the prize again in 1993 with Raining Stones, part of the 17th Mostra. He was part of the 28th Mostra with Ae Fond Kiss/Just a Kiss.
