Born in 1966 in Sol'-Ileck, Russia. He majored in economy and completed a course as script writer at the Russian Institute of Cinematography (VGIK). Director, producer, and script writer, he made his first film, David, in 2002. The First on the Moon was awarded the prize for best documentary at the Venice Film Festival 2005.
