The Goebbels Experiment (2005)

Germany / United Kingdom

A biography on film of Paul Joseph Goebbels (1897-1945), regarded as one of the symbols of the Nazi regime and known for his extreme cruelty and for revering Adolf Hitler. For some two decades, he placed his undeniable intelligence and knowledge of mass psychology at the service of the Nazi party. He exploited the fears and yearning of the people, used modern methods of political propaganda, and was vital in Hitler's trajectory to the top.The documentary reconstructs the path he traveled, with a focus on his hatred of both Jews and Catholics, his self-centered demeanor, his admiration for the likes of Hitler, and his fanaticism for power. Goebbels is allowed to speak for himself by means of his diaries in which he describes personal aspects in day-to-day life of the powerful man of the Third Reich, someone totally absorbed by savage thoughts of extermination, based on political excesses.
