Competition - New Directors
On The Other Side (2005)
Mexico
Three stories on the problematical subject of immigration from the point of view of those left behind - in this case, children who long to have their parents back again - parents who long ago left in search of a better life. This is the common denominator for Prisciliano, a Mexican boy whose father left for the U.S. in quest of fortune; for Angel, a Cuban boy who, with a friend, sets sail on a raft to try for Florida and find his father; and for Fátima, from Morocco, a stowaway on board a ship bound for Spain, also in the hopes of, once more, finding her father.
