Henrik and Nina are what might be described as a typical middle-class couple. He works as a swimming coach and she as an executive secretary. Other than for their teenage daughter, Stine, who is undergoing a difficult phase, life for the couple is trouble-free. This peaceful family life takes a turn when Henrik is arrested, accused of a hideous crime, possibly the worst crime a father could possibly commit. Confronted with accusations and rejection on the part of the community, he sees his world collapse.
