Perspective
Go for Zucker (2004)
Germany
Jaeckie Zucker is an old Jewish journalist from former East Germany who invariably finds himself on the very limits of the law. After the fall of the Berlin Wall, his life has taken a turn in a spiral of decadence, both financial and personal. Even his wife feels she would like to divorce him. An unexpected event, however, brings some hope of a reversal of circumstances for Zucker. His mother dies and leaves him a legacy that brings with it old issues concerning the Jewish family tradition. The problem is in a clause in her will whereby he is under obligation to relate well to his brother, an orthodox Jew that Zucker has been out of touch with for years now. To make matters worse, his brother and family decide to pay him a visit, precisely on the day of the billiards championship in which Jaeckie is one of the favorites.
