Crossing the Bridge - The Sound of Istambul (2005)

Adept at experimentation, musician Alexander Hacke, from the avantguard Einstürzende Einstürzende German band, roams the streets of Istambul, in an endeavor to capture the richness of Turkish musicality. He moves on from electronic music, through rock and hip-hop, to the classic Arabesco. Alex presents his impression and the sound of local artists and bands such as Babazula, Duman, and Replicas to legendary divas Müzeyyen Senar and Sezen Aksu. The musical was part of the Cannes 58th Film Festival (2005).
