Central Africa, 1870. Accompanied by a group of native hunters and by an attractive adventuress named Elena, Scottish anthropologist Jaime Dodd searches the forest for rare species. Following in Darwin's steps, the young scientist hopes to find no less than the legendary missing link - a bridge between man and the ape. When he sees the local population, consisting of short people, of low height, the pigmies, he believes he has attained his objective.
