Competition - New Directors
Thumbsucker (2005)
USA
Justin Cobb seems a typical teenager - except for one detail: he has never been able to get rid of the habit of sucking his thumb. At the age of 17, having tried just about everything to stop, he solves the problem through hypnosis by his dentist, who likes to play the psychologist. The real problem, however, is just beginning. Justin continues to compensate his frustration through his mouth, consuming any and every type of drug, from marijuana to antidepressives. The son of parents who have never made it out of their teens, Justin is going to have to learn how to grow up on his own, even if by force.
