Retrospectiva Alberto Cavalcanti

YELLOW CAESAR (1941)

ENGLAND

A tragic and comic portrait of Mussollini and the fascist dictatorship with montage effects that modify the sign and the sense of the source material. Both material and intent are “realistic”, however, the result is fantasy, in the manner of O Grande Ditador by Charles Chaplin, made at this same time.
