THE 30TH MOSTRA - THE SÃO PAULO INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL
REGULATION
The 30th SÃO PAULO INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL will take place in São Paulo, Brazil, October 20 through November 2, 2006. The Festival is a non-profit cultural event, organized by ABMIC - Associação Brasileira Mostra Internacional de Cinema accredited by the International Federation of the Association of Film Producers - FIAPF. Both the State and Municipality of São Paulo established October as the official month for the Festival. The 30th SÃO PAULO INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL will consist of three sections:
NEW FILMMAKERS COMPETITION (a competitive section for filmmakers of a first or second feature), INTERNATIONAL PERSPECTIVE, and SPECIAL PRESENTATIONS.
NEW FILMMAKERS COMPETITION
The SÃO PAULO INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL has devised an innovating and democratic formula for it´s NEW FILMMAKERS COMPETITION. All of the films that meet the norms listed below will be shown to the public at least twice during the first week of the Festival. A public vote will then name three
(03) documentaries and ten (10) fiction films among all of the films competing. These thirteen (13) films indicated by the public will be shown during the second week of the festival to an international jury consisting of personalities from various countries, of acknowledged importance to the film industry.
The winners of the NEW FILMMAKERS COMPETITION will be awarded the Bandeira Paulista trophy - designed by artist TOMIE OHTAKE exclusively to the SÃO PAULO INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL.
To enter for NEW FILMMAKERS COMPETITION, the film must meet the following requirements:
• to be the first or the second feature made by the director;
• to have been produced after January 2005;
• to be a minimum of seventy (70) minutes long;
• not released in Brazil;
1. Films that meet the specifications for NEW FILMMAKERS COMPETITION must be sent in DVD or in VHS, by mail, or by special courier, with no commercial value to the Festival address as follows:

2. The DVD or VHS screener for selection must be sent together with the printed entry form to the Festival address by August 1, 2006. No inscriptions will be accepted after this date. The Festival do not return the vídeos sent for selection. Should a participant wish to receive his material back, he must instruct a shipping agent and is responsible for the costs of return postage.
3. Entry forms must be formalized by the respective producers at the website www.mostra.org
4. A selection committee shall decide on the inscriptions.
5. Copies of the films selected for NEW FILMMAKERS COMPETITION shall be sent to the Festival address (see Item 1) prior to the due date - October 1, 2006.
6. Copies shall be covered by insurance by the Festival organization as from the time the Festival receives the shipments from the shipping agent until such time as the Festival returns same to the shipping agent, to be returned to the addresses supplied by the producers or legal representatives of the films.
7. Send a CDRom with the following material to announce the film:
• A synopsis, technical information, cast and technical record;
• 03 photographs from the film;
• 01 photograph of the director;
• a biography and filmography of the director;
• list of original dialogues, also in English.
expenses incurred with shipping and taxes on dvd, vhs or any material sent for selection shall be to the account of the producers and/or legal representatives.
INTERNATIONAL PERSPECTIVE
The INTERNATIONAL PERSPECTIVE of the SÃO PAULO INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL is a panorama of the most important and representative production in world cinema over the last two years. Inscriptions of films will be accepted regardless of duration, type, theme, or nationality, so long as the film complies with the following criteria:
• to have been produced after January 2005;
• to be not released in Brazil;
1. The films that meet the norms of the INTERNATIONAL PERSPECTIVE must be sent in DVD or in VHS by mail or by courier service, with no commercial value, to the Festival address as follows:
