Future by Design (2006)
USA
Life and a vision of the future by Jacque Fresco, a kind of Leonardo da Vinci from today. Jacque is self-taught and describes himself as multidisciplinary or "generalistic", a scholar in several inter-related areas. He is a productive inventor, today age 90, who has spent his life expressing his ideas and resorting to innovating technology. The Fresco future world is suggested in the documentary in which scientific methods, operational rules, and human activities are directed towards maintaining a balance between man and nature. To him, war is something of the past, for there is no lack of resources, and all of the species have conditions of sustainability. However, perceiving the extent of this Utopia, the documentary shows the "future possible" - with viable, real alternatives for the paradigms of mercantilism. Jacque Fresco is a loving, sincere character whose radical, and, at times irreverent ideas generate praise and controversy. He is the Founder of the Venus Project, an organization that studies solutions for the biggest problems today, integrating science and technology in a new society based on human and environmental interests.
