A social satire narrated as a fairy tale. Once upon a time, there was a man by name Juan Pérez. An enormous misunderstanding causes Juan, the poorest among the poor to be given the title of national hero for planning a supposed demonstration against poverty and precarious conditions of life. The act causes a tremendous public commotion and Juan sees his life turn topsy-turvy when the Minister of the Economy himself decides to allot him a home, car, and a job. However, this political gesture produces a national wave of opportunistic attempted suicides and causes the government to declare poverty a crime to the extent that Juan loses all and is consigned to prison for three bitter years - except that now, he has decided to do anything to be rich again.
