Of French-Iranian nationality, Marjane Satrapi was born in Iran, in 1969, and moved to Europe in 1983, where she studied at the Strasbourg Art School. Vincent Paronnaud was born in 1970, in La Rochelle, France, wrote screenplays for TV films and debuted as a director with Raging Blues (2004). Between 2005 and 2007, together they adapted Persepolis for the screen – this is an autobiography of the filmmaker printed like a comic strip in four luxury albums, which became a phenomenon of the critics and public in France and was also published in Brazil. The result led to the Jury Award in Cannes 2007.
