32nd São Paulo International Film Festival calls for applications for lecture with Argentinean filmmaker Pablo Trapero

The 32nd São Paulo International Film Festival promotes a lecture about direction with the Argentinean filmmaker Pablo Trapero. The lecture will be preceded by the screening of his last film, the feature “Leonera”, which debuted in the competitive section of the Cannes festival this year. Trapero is one of the most important contemporary Argentinean filmmakers, the author of features such as “El Bonaerense”, awarded at the section “Un Certain Regard” at the Cannes Festival 2002, and the well-succeeded “Família Rodante” (2004), shown at the 28th Mostra.

“Leonera” will have an exclusive screening for the lecture attendees on Monday, October 20, from 9 to 11 am, at FAAP (Fundação Armando Álvares Penteado). On the same day, from 1 to 5 pm, Trapero will lecture about “Mise en scéne as a narrative tool in cinema”.

Applications will be accepted up to October 5 at the email oficina@mostra.org. The applicants ought to send a resumé and an one-paragraph text answering the question: “Why would you like to attend the lecture with Pablo Trapero?” If selected, the applicant pays a R,00 fee. Good knowledge of Spanish language is required for the application. Questions and more information can be sent to the same email address.

PABLO TRAPERO

was born in Ramos Meijía, Argentina, in 1971, and graduated in Direction at the Universidade de Cinema de Buenos Aires. His first short films were “Mocoso Malcriado” (1993) and “Negócios” (1995). In 1999, he signed his first feature, the awarded “Mundo Grua” (1999), shown at the 23rd Mostra. He also directed “El Bonaerense” (2002), “Família Rodante” (2004) and “Nascido e Criado” (2006). His most recent film, “Leonera” (2008), will be shown at the 32nd Mostra.
