A Short Biography
Péricles
Cavalcanti, was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil,
in 1947. He is a songwriter since the early
seventies. He also sings, plays guitar and
arranges his own records.
His songs are usually recorded by some of
the great Brazilian artists such as Caetano
Veloso, Gal Costa, Arnaldo Antunes, Adriana
Calcanhotto, Arrigo Barnabé, Cássia
Eller, among others.

by Brazilian pop company “Asdrubal Trouxe

group "Oficina", in 1993.
• Songs for the dramatic play “O
pranto de Maria Parda”, by Gil Vicente,

• Péricles wrote, produced and
arranged the musical soundtrack for “Mil
e Uma”, a Brazilian drama directed by
Suzana de Moraes, in 1994.

for “Duas Águas”, a documentary
on the life and work of the great Brazilian
poet João Cabral de Mello Neto, released
by TV Cultura, São Paulo, in 1997.
• Composition, production and arrangements
for “Quem é Bardi”, a documentary
on the life and work of Pietro Maria Bardi,
directed by José Roberto Aguilar, released
by TV Cultura, São Paulo, in 2000.

Artistic
Award
• Péricles Cavalcanti won the
1991 São Paulo´s Art Critics
Association (APCA) award to that year’s
best songwriter, for the album “Canções”.
International
Tour
Péricles has been touring 11 (eleven)
German towns, including Berlin, Hamburg, Frankfurt
and Cologne, for the releasing of his album
“Canções”, in July,
l992.
